Pompton Valley Rail Trail Visit

Join us at the Pompton Valley Rail Trail on Saturday September 12 to provide input for our trail corridor study. Please feel free to bring your friends, this event is open to all young adults, not just UpNext members. If you are able to attend, please RSVP by September 9.

Located in Passaic and Morris Counties, this study explores options for connecting the existing Highlands Rail Trail and the Pompton Valley Rail Trail. It will also examine a possible connection from the Pompton Valley Rail Trail to the NJ TRANSIT Mountain View Station in Wayne.

The Pompton Valley Rail Trail is a 5.1-mile paved and boardwalk trail built along a former railroad line. There is a gap of about 2.25 miles between the northern end of the trail in Pequannock Township and the southern end of the Highlands Rail Trail in Wanaque Borough. There is also a smaller gap of about 0.1 miles between the southern end of the PVRT and the Mountain View Train Station.

This is one of two trail corridor studies underway. The other is exploring options for extending the Traction Line Recreation Trail, which we hope to visit with you in the coming months!
